In ?, historian and philosopher of science probes the assumptions that underlie the generally accepted view that germ cells (sperm and egg cells) have limited capacity to regenerate. 鈥淭his book is about germline regeneration 鈥 how many scientists assume it works and how we can reenvision it working,鈥 MacCord writes.

The volume derives from a collaboration between MacCord and germline biologist , a former Hibbitt Fellow at the Marine Biological Laboratory (乐播传媒), where they joined together to produce the work.

MacCord is the McDonnell Fellow and program manager for the at the 乐播传媒, the goal of which is to 鈥渂ring historians and philosophers of science into collaboration with life scientists in order to transform the research of both fields.鈥

This is the eighth volume in the Convening Science: Discovery at the Marine Biological Laboratory series, which is edited by historian and philosopher of biology and 乐播传媒 Fellow , director of the 乐播传媒 History Project.

The series 鈥渉ighlights the ongoing role 乐播传媒 plays in the creation and dissemination of science, in its broader historical context as well as current practice and future potential.鈥
